The AEGIS system is designed according to the following fundamental design principles:

Modularity – Different parts of the system operate entirely independently of one another. They interact only through the central database.

Fault tolerance – The system expects and responds well to failures, particularly regarding the availability of external data sources.

Portability – the AEGIS server should be easily installable at various locations by third-parties.
